I want to thank you so much for supporting the American Cancer Society Relay For Life event that I participated in last year. Thanks to your generosity, our "Grey Matters!" team raised over $8000 last year to help in the fight against cancer! The entire Kent Relay for Life organization raised a record-breaking $252,000 and is among the top in the nation! Our team, "Grey Matters!", was formed after my son Bill was diagnosed with Astrocytoma - a type of cancerous brain tumor. His is inoperable and does not respond well to chemotherapy. He underwent radiation treatments two years ago and responded well. He is fortunate in that his is a low grade group of tumors and he has been told he could live for many years. But it is very likely that his life will be shortened by this horrible disease. At 27, he's way too young to carry such a heavy burden. But I don't want to talk about death...I want to talk about HOPE. In medical research, fifteen to twenty years is so much time. Think about all the medical breakthroughs we've seen in our lifetime...from growing ears on lab mice to stem cell research and everything in between. What do all these things need to "break through"? Funding. Yes, *money*...and this is where you can help! With a donation to the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life you will be helping to not only fund innovative cancer research but give thousands and thousands of people HOPE. * HOPE that one day there will be a CURE for cancer. * HOPE that one day cancer will be eliminated from our vocabulary. * HOPE that no one will have to suffer from this disease ever again. These goals seem lofty...and they are. But every little bit helps. Every donation, no matter what amount, helps us get that much closer to the goal. Thank you so much for your support. Donate in honor of your loved ones and know that your donation may be the one that funds the cure! James Milstid P.S. Bill is doing well. His tumors don't seem to be growing and he has been seizure-free for over a year. He's a fighter and a survivor!
